Bernard Hampton "Buddy" Cole

Mr. Bernard Hempton (Buddy) Cole passed away at his home in Carlsbad, NM, on January 25, 2015. Born in South Boston, VA on September 2, 1948, Mr. Cole is survived by his wife Mary Jane (MJ) Cole of the home. Mr. Cole was predeceased by his parents Alexander Bruce Cole and Margaret Knowles Cole and his niece Tanya Raye Womack. Survivors also include his step-mother, Patricia Newbill Meade Cole of Cluster Spring, VA, sisters Barbara Cole Owen of Chester, VA, Carolyne Cole Melton of Gulf Breeze, FL, Virginia (Bonnie) Cole Walton and Cynthia Meade Doss of South Boston, Va, Patricia Meade Wilborne of Cluster Spring, VA, Pamela Meade Stauble of Alton, VA, brothers Leslie Scott Cole of Cluster Spring, VA and Milton Gray Meade of South Boston, VA and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and a great nephew. Mr. Cole, a U.S. Army veteran, served in Vietnam and was an active member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also an active member of Elk Lodge 1558 in Carlsbad, NM. The family is thankful for the support and care given by the Intensive Care Unit of the Carlsbad Medical Center, Hospice Home Health Care, Mr. Cole's favorite nurse Kathy, and his special friend Bonnie Robertson. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Powell Funeral Home, South Boston, VA on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2 p.m.
