Ida Frances Gravitt Thaxton

Mrs. Ida Frances Gravitt Thaxton of South Boston passed away on January 19, 2015 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on February 23, 1926 and was 88 years old. She was the daughter of the late William Henry Gravitt and Mary Long Gravitt and was married to the late Ernest Grady Thaxton. She was a lifetime member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Survivors include: One daughter Cynthia T. Grogan and husband Mike of Bakersfield, CA One son Donald Grady Thaxton and wife Carolyn of Raleigh, NC Three Grandchildren Danielle G. Cash of Bakersfield, CA Acree Macam of Atlanta, GA Donald Jeb Thaxton of Raleigh, NC One brother-in-law Richard Puryear of Durham, NC She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby G. Puryear, and a brother, William Henry Gravitt A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Townsend and Rev. Mike McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service and other times at her home.
