Mrs. Lula Bray Cockerill of Halifax, VA passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the Woodview Nursing Home. She was born December 22, 1918 in Halifax County, VA and was 96 years old. She was the daughter of the late Burnette Edward Bray and the late Lee Anna McCraw Bray and was married to the late Albert A. Cockerill. She was a member of the Beth Car Baptist Church. Mrs. Cockerill was a retired school teacher having work in Loudoun County for 3 1/2 years and Halifax County for 30 years. She was also a member of the Berryman D.A.R., the U.D.C. Circle and the Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Lula Bray Cockerill is survived by: One Grandson David Bray Cockerill of Emmittsburg, MD One Sister Paulette B. Chandler of Hampton, VA One Sister-in-Law Bernice Stanley Bray of Nathalie ***Preceded in death by her son, Albert Bray Cockerill Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Al Marquerat officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
