On Wednesday, January 14, 2015, Harriett Walton Dunn, devoted wife of the late Joseph Dunn and loving mother of Janet Hamrick and Nancy Bane went to be with the Lord. Her life stood for what she believed in, great love for her God, children, church and community. She was born on September 2, 1912 to Robert H. Walton and Nancy Ould Walton. Her life of joy and faith will continue to inspire her children and grand children including her daughter Janet of Roanoke, her second daughter Nancy and her husband Harold of South Boston, grandchildren, Diane Higgs and husband Steve of Roanoke , Janet Hamrick Kaufman and husband Jon also of Roanoke. Hope Kvasnicka and husband Tony of Petersburg, Marty Smith and husband Damien of Newport News, Wes Bane of Christiansburg. She had eleven great grandchildren. She also had two very special friends-like family, Dr. Eddie Walker and wife Peggy of Luray and Walter and Judy Kraft of Mt. Laurel. She joins her Mother, Father, husband, and three grandchildren in God's loving arms. Harriett also is survived by two brothers, Robert H. Walton, Jr. and wife Velma of Christiansburg and Samuel M. Walton and wife Martha of Greensboro, NC, one sister, Millie Ramsey of Charlotte, NC. Harriett was a nurse by profession for 35 years, having been employed at South Boston Hospital and Halifax Community Hospital. She also nursed privately in homes. She was a Sunday School Teacher, a Deacon and Trustee at Ingram Christian Church. after moving to South Boston she became a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Wilson Memorial Ruritan Club and receive the Good Neighbor Award. The Funeral Service will be held at First Baptist Church, South Boston, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 P. M. with the Rev. Dave Anderson and the Rev. Dr. Eddie Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Ingram Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter, Nancy & Harold Bane, 1806 Irish Street, South Boston, Virginia.
