Annie Chandler Overby

Mrs. Annie Chandler Overby of Maple Avenue, South Boston, VA, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at her home. She was born in Halifax County of July 29, 1919 and was 95 years old. She was the daughter of the late Winfrey A. Chandler and Nannie Conner Chandler and was married to the late Howard Lacy Overby. She was retired from JP Stevens Textiles and was a member of Ash Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include: Three daughters Betty Mae Hudson of Scottsburg Frances Overby of Chase City Nannie McKinney of Halifax Two sons Bernard L. Overby of Lunenburg Carl Edward Overby of Dallas, TX Fourteen grandchildren Bernie, Crystal, Carla, David, Eugene, Earl, Frankie, Cathy, Lynn, Ronald, Carl, John, Shana, and Roy. A number of great grandchildren She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Conner and Hattie Lee Chandler, and one brother, Samuel Chandler. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7-8:00 PM and other times at her home. The family would like to thank Halifax Regional Hospice for their care and concern.
