Mr. Carlton Bernard "C.B." Fore of South Boston, VA went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born on March 21, 1925 in Danville, VA, and was 89 years old. He was the son of the late James William Fore and Minnie Chaney Fore and was married to the late Jean Moorefield Fore. Fore served in the United States Navy during World War II, participating in five amphibious landings in the Pacific and during the occupation of Japan. He was a member of the American Legion Post 8 where he served as Adjutant, Commander, and District 5 Commander. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Boston where he formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon, and was a member of the Roman Eagle Masonic Lodge 122 in Danville for over 60 years. Fore was a Virginia State Trooper for 25 years, working in Richmond, Norfolk, Lynchburg, and Halifax. For several years in the 1970s, Fore owned and operated Duffy's Pizza Parlor in Halifax Square Shopping Center. He worked for the Department of Corrections at Camp 23 in Halifax for 15 years, was a member of the Virginia Protective Force, volunteered as a swimming and life guard instructor for the American Red Cross, and worked part-time for Southside Community Services Board for 20 years before retiring in 2008. Mr. Carlton Bernard "C.B." Fore is survived by: One Daughter Betty Carlton Fore Puryear of South Boston One Son David Mitchell "Mickey" Fore of South Boston Two Grandchildren Andrea Jean Carlton Zito and husband David Paul Zito of Arlington, VA One niece Annette Fore Tallant of Burke, VA He was preceded in death by four sisters, Clois Butler, Elsie Fore, Muriel Fore, and Evelyn Fore; four brothers, Fred Fore, James Fore, Victor Fore, and Wendell Fore; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Anderson officiating. Burial will be held at the Oak Ridge Cemetery with military honors and Masonic rites. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Powell Funeral Home.
