Bernice McRorie Younger

Mrs. Bernice McRorie Younger of Halifax, Virginia died Friday, November 14, 2014 peacefully at her home. Mrs. Younger was born April 1, 1923 in Monroe, North Carolina and was 91 years of age. She was the daughter of Jessie Columbus McRorie and Minnie Lenora Crook McRorie and was the last surviving of ten siblings. She was also preceded in death by her husband Harold Ray Younger, Sr. For many years Mrs. Younger was an active member, holding various leadership positions in the Halifax United Methodist Church, the Halifax Women's Club and the Banister River Garden Club and was the owner of Younger's Tax Service. Mrs. Bernice McRorie Younger is survived by: Her Children: Harold Ray Younger, Jr. (Mary Angela) of Sao Paulo, Brazil Larry Gene Younger (Mary) of Midlothian, Virginia Sevanne Younger Gilliam (Dexter) of Halifax, Virginia Five grandchildren Phillip Younger, Sam Gilliam, Michael Younger, Teena Y. Nunn, Kathy Y. Evans (Edward) Two great grandchildren One great-great-grandchild Funeral Services for Mrs. Bernice McRorie Younger will be held Monday, November 17, 2014 with a short graveside service at 1:30 P.M. at Halifax Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial service at Halifax United Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Chuck Cassidy officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Sevanne & Dexter Gilliam, 1027 Mountain Road, Halifax, VA.
