Mr. Lewis Albert Chaney of South Boston, VA died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Woodview Nursing Home. He was born April 2, 1923 in Halifax County, VA and was 91 years old. He was the son of the late Willie L. Chaney and the late Emma Puckett Chaney and married to Lucille Womack Moore, who survives. He was a member of the Black Walnut Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Chaney was also A WWII Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 8. Chaney Two brothers, Henry and Howard Chaney One sister, Gertrude Thomas Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Black Walnut Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of his daughter, Christine Smith, 1055 Highland Hills, Halifax, VA 24558.
