Daniel Frank Newkirk, Sr.

Daniel Frank Newkirk passed away at his home in South Boston, Virginia on Friday, October 24, 2014. He was born in Lanham, Maryland on December 23, 1930 to Francis Edwin and Della McGinnis Newkirk. He married Dorothy Jane Fulwiler on July 5, 1952. He is survived by his wife and four children; Diane (David) Milstead, Kathy (Greg) Austin, Daniel F. Newkirk, Jr. (JoAnne) and Donald Newkirk (Sharon), nine grandchildren, Jessica Austin, Everett Austin, Julie Phillips (Jason), Jacob Milstead (Ashley), Caleb Austin (Glenda), Daniel Newkirk III, Donald Newkirk, Jr., Michael Newkirk, April Jane Newkirk and two great grandchildren, Shayle and Tucker Newkirk. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean Conflict. Dan made his living working for Haddon House Foods for over 25 years. In 2006, Dan and Jane moved to South Boston, VA. They attended Grace Baptist Church in Virgilina and were active in the Adult Missions Sunday School Class. Dan was a member of Post 8 of the American Legion, the Republican Party of South Boston. Services will be at Grace Baptist Church (1058 Buckshoal Road Virgilinia, VA) on Tuesday, October 28th,2014. Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. with funeral to follow at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Jack Stewart and the Rev. Dave Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
