Miss Abigail Elaine Whitaker of South Boston passed away at Duke University Hospital on Monday, October 13, 2014. She was born in South Boston on July 30, 2014 at 3:55 PM and was 2 months old. She was the daughter of Brandy Jhonna Villeda and the late Justin Esmond Whitaker. Survivors include: Her mother Brandy Jhonna Villeda of South Boston Her brother Colton Wayne Whitaker of South Boston Her maternal grandparents Telma and Edwin Villeda of South Boston Her paternal grandmother Tammy Crenshaw Barksdale and husband Mark of South Boston and David Whitaker and wife Carolyn of Ft. Benning, GA Her Godmother Marion West Womack of South Boston A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jay Logan officiating. Burial will follow at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home Friday evening from 7-8:30 PM. Flowers are welcome but those wishing to give memorials should consider Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Avenue, South Boston, VA 24592.
