Mr. Marcum McLean Yates of South Boston, Virginia died Monday, September 1, 2014 the Woodview. He was born in Durham, NC on March 8, 1949 and was 65 years of age. He was the son of the late Ervin and Nancy Lloyd Yates. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Joy Good Yates. While in his 20's Mr. Yates accepted the Lord as his Saviour, and became a faithful member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church. He was a graduate of Orange County High School and attended Air Craft mechanic School in Kansas City, Missouri. He worked at Aircraft Distributing Company, Ashboro, NC. While in North Carolina he worked for his father at Ervin Yates Heating & Air Conditioning. After moving to Virginia he was employed with Lloyd's Heating and Air Conditioning, and worked for Ready Service Company as well as Good's Lawn and Garden Center. Mr. Yates is survived by: His wife Joy Good Yates of South Boston, VA One son Paul Yates & wife Naomi of Mt Crawford, VA Two daughters Heather Y. Cornelison & husband Doug of Marshfield, Missouri Lezlie Y. Horst & husband Dr. Vernon Horst of Gardendale, Alabama Thirteen Grandchildren **In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Yates and a brother, Steve Yates. Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, September 4th, from 5-8 pm at Ebenezer Mennonite Church. Funeral will be held at Ebenezer Mennonite Church Friday, September 5th at 10 am with a viewing at 9 am. At other times the family will receive visitors at the home, 207 Eanes Street, South Boston, VA. Memorials, maybe made to Ebenezer Mennonite Church Building Fund, c/o Mark Slabach, Treasurer, 1108 Wolf Trap Road, South Boston, VA 24592.
