Mr. Watt Jackson Moorefield of Scottsburg, VA died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Halifax Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax County, VA on April 30, 1924 he was the son of the late Otie Moorefield and Elizabeth Moorefield and was marrie to June Wilborn Moorefield, who survives. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, South Boston, Farmer, Businessman, an avid bird hunter and served on the Halifax County School Board. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Watt Jackson Moorefield is survived by: His Wife of 70 years June Wilborn Moorefield of Scottsburg, VA One Son Michael Moorefield of Manakin Sabot, VA Two Grandchildren Miranda Reynolds & husband Teddy of Richmond, VA Melissa Saulsbury & husband Mike of Atlanta, GA Three Great-Grandchildren Davis Reynolds of Richmond, VA Blair & Nathan Saulsbury of Atlanta, GA One Sister,Mary Ellen Hall of Red Oak, VA One Brother, Wayne Moorefield of Clover, VA ***Preceded in death by*** One Daughter, Kathryn Dale Moorefield One Brother, Clyde Moorefield, One Sister, Nannie M. Blanks One Daughter-in-law Maryann Bretzel Moorefield Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dave Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service and other times at the home, 6151 James D.
