Janie Puryear Perkins

Mrs. Janie Puryear Perkins of Brad Smith Trail, Nathalie, VA passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at her home. She was born in Halifax County September 30, 1936 and was 77 years old. She was the daughter of the late Roy Puryear and Mary Willie Morris Puryear and was married to the late Neil Vernon Perkins Sr. She was a member and former Sunday School Teacher at Crystal Hill Southern Baptist Church. Survivors include: Two daughters Kathleen Perkins Parker and husband Walter of Halifax Judy Carol Perkins Ford and husband Billy of Virgilina One son Neil V. Perkins Jr. and wife Jackie of Nathalie Three sisters Maryland P. Matthews of South Boston JoAnn P. Smith and husband Bernard of Red Oak Roberta P. Coleman and husband Edward of Red Oak Eight grandchildren Eight great grandchildren Preceded in death by one son, Richard Terry Perkins and two brothers, George Edward Puryear and James "Pete" Puryear. A funeral service will be held at Crystal Hill Southern Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7-8:30 PM and other times at her home.
