Mr. Wesley Morrell "Shorty" Perkins of Halifax, Virignia died Monday, June 30, 2014 at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond, Virigina. He was born in Halifax County, Virignia, April 24, 1932 and was 82 years of age. He was the son of the late Joseph Perkins and Mamie Simmons Perkins and is survived by his wife Kathleen Womack Perkins. Mr. Perkins was a member of Union United Methodist Church and was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a self-employed small engines mechanic. Mr. Wesley Morrell "Shorty" Perkins is survived by: His Wife Kathleen Womack Perkins of Halifax One Daughter Kathy Lynn Wilborn of Halifax One Son James Wesley Perkins of Halifax Eight Grandchildren Michael Perkins, Wesley Perkins, Jennifer Francisco, Brandon Swain, Brittany Perkins, Dustin Perkins, J. J. Perkins and Cloe Perkins Three Great-Grandchildren One Brother Thurman Perkins & wife Connie of Halifax Special daughter-in-law Berniece Perkins of South Boston Preceded in death by One Grandchild, Gabriel Lynn Perkins Seven Brothers and Four Sisters Funeral Services for Mr. Wesley Morrell "Shorty" Perkins will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 2:00 P. M. with the Rev. Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service and other times at the home, 2207 Union Church Road, Halifax, Virginia.
