Odell Edna Owen Henry

Mrs. Odell Edna Owen Henry of Vernon Hill, VA died Saturday, June 21, 2104 at her home. She was born in Halifax County, VA on November 10, 1910 and was 103 years old. She was the daughter of the late John Owen and the late Cora Lee Meeler Owen. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where she was a choir member and also the oldest member of the Virginia Walking-Racking Horse Association. She was also a past member of the Oak Level Volunteer Fire and Rescue Ladies Auxilliary. Mrs. Odell Edna Owen Henry is survived by: One Daughter Virginia Lee Henry Ingram and husband Pete of Vernon Hill One Niece Rose Lee Simerson and husband Dan of Salisbury, NC One granddaughter Sharon Hughes and husband Allen of Union Hall, VA Eight great grandchildren Ten great great grandchildren One Nephew David Owen and wife Carol of Lynchburg One Great-Niece Katie Owen of Lynchburg Special Cousin Mary Lou Breeden of Vernon Hill She was preceded in death by: Two Brothers, William "Bill Owen and Woodrow Owen One sister, Mabel Owen Landrum, and one grandson, Mike Ingram. The family would like to thank Halifax Regional Hospice, and especially Janet and Chastity for their care and support and a special thanks to Tajanda Woodall for her friendship and support. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bill Wilkins and Dr. Paul Buckman conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7-8:30 PM at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home. For memorials please consider Mt.
