Beatrice Moore Hawkins

Beatrice Moore Hawkins, 89, died Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Wake Forest Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC. A lifelong resident of Halifax County, Beatrice was born September 7, 1924, to William Bacon Moore and Lona Seamons Moore. She graduated from Halifax High School and worked at the Cotton Mill during World War II and later at Pacific Mills. She was married to the late Ira K. Hawkins. Beatrice is survived by daughter, Nancy, of Winston-Salem, NC, son William (Bill) of Forest, VA, and granddaughter Hannah of Forest and Amelia Courthouse, VA. Her brother Calvin Scott Moore, died in France during World War II and sister, Rachel Cliborne of Cocoa Beach, FL., died in 2009. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Union United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service at the church. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
