Aleta June Emmerich Fears

Dr. Aleta June Emmerich Fears went to heaven on June 13, 2014. She was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on December 2, 1946. Aleta was a wonderful and faithful Christian woman, helping to start the church of Christ in South Boston, VA. many years ago. She was an educator and a principal in Halifax County until she retired in 2002. Aleta graduated as salutatorian from Haughton High School in Louisiana. Her degrees included a Bachelor's Degree in English from Harding University in Arkansas, a Master's Degree from Longwood University in Virginia, an Education Specialist's Degree from the University of Virginia, and culminated with her Doctorate in Education from the University of Virginia in 2004. She loved to collect chickens, especially hens on a nest. Her knitting and counted cross stitch talents were flawless. She also loved to do puzzles of all kinds. She spent many tireless hours teaching her own grandchildren about facts of every variety, from types of camels to the subtleties of various colors, such as Kelly green or turquoise. Her vast knowledge never ceased to amaze. Aleta also loved to play ping pong. She loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, not to mention CSI and other intelectually stimulating shows. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a joy to be around. In fact, everyone who knew her said she was too nice. Everyone who met her loved her. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Kenneth Lee Fears. Aleta and Kenneth loved to take rides together and go get a cookie. Everything Aleta accomplished in life was through the help of her loving and faithful husband. She is also survived by three adoring children: Kelly Layne Fears and husband Shu Shu Ahmed of Scottsburg. Dr. Kenneth Lee Fears II and wife Dr. Amy of Halifax. and Keith Lamar Fears of Raleigh, NC. Six grandchildren: Nick Fears, Dusty Fears, Miles Coleman, Ken Fears, Yasmine Ahmed, and Miranda Fears Anma Aleta will truly be missed by her beautiful grandbabies! Preceded in Death by both parents: Theodore Oren Emmerich and Gladys Mae Deuschle Emmerich Gordon, and two siblings: Theodore Oren Emmerich II and Tessa Maye Byers Three surviving siblings: Nora and husband Frank Cloutier of Philomath, OR Mark and wife Barb Emmerich of Eugene, MO, and Timothy and wife Jane Emmerich of Corvallis, OR. Nieces: Christina Hollis and Elizabeth Emmerich Nephews: James Rhodig, Tom Fears, Larry Wayne Fears, Heath Cloutier, Charles Fears, Brock Cloutier, Cale Cloutier, Chris Emmerich, and Jacob Emmerich. Countless great nieces and nephews. Aleta is also survived by several special friends including travel buddy-Linda Fears, Marlene Seamster, Ann Fears, Brenda and Norman Talley, Pat Dobson, and Ross Davis. There are many more friends who are too numerous to name. Please send any contributions to South Boston church of Christ . Funeral Services for Mrs. Aleta June Emmerich Fears will be held Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11:00 A. M. at South Boston Church of Christ with The Rev. Doug Bowen & The Rev. Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the South Boston Church of Christ Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 6-8 P. M. and other times at the home of her son Kenny Lee Fears, II & wife Amy Beuno Vista Drive, Halifax, Virginia.
