James Paul Young

Mr. James Paul Young of South Boston, VA passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Person County, NC of September 24, 1939 and was 74 years old. He was the son of the late Peyton Alvin Young and Frances Melton Young who survive and was married to Geraldine Vaughan Young. He was a member and Deacon at Second Baptist Church, was a 50 year volunteer with the South Boston Fire Department, and was a 33 year employee with the Department of Public Works with the Town of South Boston. Survivors include: His wife Geraldine Vaughan Young of South Boston His mother Frances Melton Young of Roxboro, NC One daughter Barbara Y. Throckmorton of South Boston Three sons James Alvis Young of South Boston Craig Paul Young and wife Ashley of South Boston David Eugene Young of Rustburg Two sisters Becky Y. Hux of Georgia Emma Dean Blalock of Roxboro, NC One brother Emory Young of Roxboro, NC Ten grandchildren Three great grandchildren He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Young Campa A funeral service will be held on Thursday, may 29, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Vance midget officiating. Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens with Fireman's Rites. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 PM and other times at his home.
