Mr. Evan Hardy Newbill of Dryburg, VA passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at The Woodview. He was born in Halifax County on December 22, 1935 and was 78 years old. He was the son of the late Carl Elvin Newbill Sr. and Thelma Wilmouth Newbill and was married to Cecile Seamster Newbill. He was a member of Fork Baptist Church, was a tobacco farmer, and was retired from ABB. Survivors include: His wife Cecile Seamster Newbill of Scottsburg Four daughters Barbara "Gayle" N. Noble and husband Cris of Winterville, NC Wanda N. Snead and husband Larry of Scottsburg Sherri E. Newbill of South Boston Etta "Cricket" N. Cook and fiance Alvin Gammon of Saxe One son Evan Michael Newbill of Scottsburg Four brothers Carl E. Newbill Jr. and wife Sarah of South Boston Jackie L. Newbill and wife Sandra of South Boston Harvey B. Newbill and wife Edwina of Scottsburg Larry D. Newbill and wife Norma of Halifax Three sisters Betty Ann Newbill of Farmville Nancy N. Thomas and husband Steve of Conway, SC Peggy N. Hazelwood and husband Hampton of Scottsburg Nine grandchildren Five great grandchildren One great great grandchild Preceded in death by one daughter, Sandy Jean Newbill Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Fork Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with the Rev. David Rathel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7-8:30 PM and other times at his home.
