Mrs. Florence Raye Loftis Simmons of South Boston, Virginia died Monday, May 05, 2014 at The Woodview. She was born in Halifax County, Virginia August 17, 1923 and was 90 years of age. Mrs. Simmons was the daughter of the late Ernest G. Loftis and Grace Long Loftis and was first married to the late Rudd Holt, II and then to the late Paul G. Simmons. Mrs. Florence Raye Loftis Simmons is survived by: Her children: Beverly Carol Crews & husband Dannie of South Boston, VA Rudd M. Holt, III & Estelle of Lynchburg, VA Paul Loftis Simmons & Charlotte Morris of South Boston, VA Grace Dianne Simmons of South Boston, VA Ten Grandchildren Tara, Paula, David, Blair, Rudd, April, Chastity, Melissa, Chris and Daniel Eighteen Great Grandchildren One Brother John Loftis of Conyers, GA Special nieces and nephews Darlene Upton, Nancy, Jimmy Sheppard, Faye and Wesley Simmons A number of other devoted nieces and nephews A Special Caregiver, Diane Conner Dogs: Spunky, Little Bit, Alice, Bozo and Jessie **Preceded in death by: Two Brothers, Conway and Lacy Loftis Funeral Services for Mrs. Florence Raye Loftis Simmons will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2:00 P. M. at Union United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tony Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery after which the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home Tuesday, from 6-8:30 P. M. and other times at the home 5061 Union Church Road, South Boston, VA.
