Mrs. Shirley Ann Reaves Pool of South Boston, VA died Friday, May 2, 2014 at her home. She was born August 27, 1926 in South Boston. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of South Boston where she was a former Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. She was a graduate of Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood University) and taught in local schools for twenty five years. Mrs. Pool was the daughter of the late Pauline Nichols Reaves and Cecil Thomas Reaves and was married to the late Heath Flournoy Pool Sr. She is survived by three children, Heath F. Pool Jr. of Richmond, Paul Reaves Pool and wife Jeana of Simpsonville, SC, and Ellen Pool Trask of South Boston. Also surviving are one brother, Cecil Reaves of Winter Haven, FL, five grandchildren, Ann Nichole Hartbarger, Amber Hartbarger, James Humphreys, Camden Pool, and Carson Pool. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Madisyn Henderson and Gianna Sexton, and daughter-in-law, Rosana Humphreys and her husband Hank. She was preceded in death by one son, James Carr Pool and one sister, Polly R. Wilkinson. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dave Anderson and Rev. Susan Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7-8:00 PM and other times at her home.
