Bernice Overstreet Carden

Mrs. Bernice Overstreet Carden of South Boston, Virginia died April 26, 2014 at the Envoy Nursing Home in Staunton, Virginia. She was born in Halifax County, Virginia on November 7, 1919 and was 94 years old. She was the daughter of the late George Oscar Overstreet, Sr. and the late Nellie Seay Overstreet and married to the late C. F. "Buster" Carden, Jr. She was a member of the Dan River Baptist Church and a retired bookkeeper from Leggett Department Store credit department. Mrs. Bernice Overstreet Carden is survived by: Three Daughters Iris C. Cann and husband Robert of Alexandria,VA Sandra C. Chandler and husband Rupert of Stuarts Draft, VA Gayle C. Hudert and husband John of Santa Clara, CA Two Brothers G. Oscar Overstreet, Jr. of Clover, VA Marvis Overstreet of Conway, SC Ten Grandchildren Eleven Great Grandchildren Sister-in-law, Geneva Carden ***Preceded in death by*** One daughter, Glenda C. Moore One grandson, Shane Chandler Two sisters, Dorothy Hatcher and Evelyn Wilkins Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Dan River Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Clover Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, April 28, 2014 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home.
