Ola Whitt Puryear

Ola Whitt Puryear, 86, of Raleigh, NC; daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Whitt of VA, died on April 16, 2014. Ola Puryear, mother of Donnie and wife, Betty Carlton, Andy Puryear and wife, Kelly Puryear. Grandmother of Traci and husband, William Ciafardini, Ashley Puryear, and Donnie Puryear II. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Ty and Anthony Ciafardini. Ola passed away at Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Apex, NC, after her courageous battle with cancer. She was the President and CEO of Harold A. Puryear Trucking Company and served as the Matriarch of the family for most of her life. She enjoyed keeping the family together with constant gatherings to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and Sundays with a traditional late breakfast at her home. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family within the States, as well as abroad. She loved her family unconditionally, was grateful to see and get to know the newest member, Baby Anthony. A farewell celebration will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 1701 E. Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC, on Friday, April 18, 2014 between 4:00pm and 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jack Stewart and the Rev. Charles Townsend officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. After the service, a luncheon will be provided at Ernie's Restaurant, 1010 John Randolph Blvd, South Boston, VA.
