A teacher of many topics, mother and wife, Oakley Hall Roberts died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at her home. She was born in Raleigh, North Carolina on July 8, 1923 and was 90 years old. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Lowell Hall and the late Lela Myrtle Oakley Hall and was married to the late Thomas Langston Roberts. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Teller. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Anne Roberts, siblings, Charles Hall of Salem, Jim A. Hall and wife Myrtle of Boise Idaho, Anne S. Buckner and husband Charles of McMinville, TN and Thomas H. Hall and wife Anita of Halifax. The family gives special recognition of the caretakers and newest members of the family, Brittney Woods, Joyce Thaxton, Maggie Warren, Mary Decker, Sandy Smith and Susan Whitt for their gentle and loving care. Oakley taught Home Economics in Hopewell, Arlington and Danville, Virginia. She taught many subjects in Halifax County and was a counselor at the Junior High. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gama. She was a member of Dan River Baptist Church where she taught youth and seniors and participated in many activities including WMU and was a leader of GA's. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation at 10 A.M. and the Service at 11:00 A. M. with the Rev. Doug Gibson officiating.
