Mr. Marshall Lee Blanks of Alton, Virginia died Thursday, March 06, 2014 at his daughter's home in Bedford, Virginia. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia March 2, 1928 and was 86 years of age. He was the son of the late George Thomas Blanks and Millie Clark Blanks and was preceded in death by his wife Anna Murphy Blanks. Mr. Blanks was a member of Second Baptist church and First Crossroads Baptist Church and was a deacon at both churches. Mr. Marshall Lee Blanks is survived by: Four children Wayne C. Blanks & wife Kaye of Hampton Brenda Church & husband Jim of Huddleston Michael A. Blanks & wife Melissa of Huddleston Sherri B. Hodnett & husband Linwood of Bedford Six Grandchildren Ten Great-Grandchildren One Sister Betty Richardson of Richmond A number of nieces and nephews ***Preceded in death by Three brothers Jessie, Mitchell (Jasper), & Richard Blanks Six Sisters Edna Lipford Mildred Overstreet Ruby Roy Christine Layne Margaret Dawson Nancy Keever Funeral Services for Mr. Marshall Lee Blanks will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2:00 P. M. at Black Walnut Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home, Saturday, from 7-8:30 P.M. and other times at the family home, 11149 Philpott Rd., Alton, VA.
