Mrs. Rebecca Throckmorton Whitt of South Boston, Virginia died Saturday, March 01, 2014 at the Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born May 15, 1935 in Halifax County, Virginia and was 78 years old. She was the daughter of the late Walter Throckmorton and the late Nora Vaughan Throckmorton and was married to the late Alfred Hardy Whitt. She was a member of the Ash Avenue Baptist Church and also attended the Black Walnut Baptist Church. She was a member of the W.O.W. and the Good Samaritans. Mrs. Rebecca Throckmorton Whitt is survived by: One Daughter Sheila B. Henderson and husband Roger of South Boston Two Grandchildren Rodney Dale Henderson of Lynchburg, VA Justin Henderson and wife Allison of South Boston One Great Grandchild Summer LeAnn Henderson of South Boston Two Sisters Eulalia Thomas of Scottsburg Nora Lee Whitlow and husband Alton of Clover ***Preceded in death by*** One brother, Hewill Throckmorton ****Monday services will be cancelled due to inclement weather*** Funeral services for Mrs. Rebecca Throckmorton Whitt will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. at the Black Walnut Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday March 2, 2014, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home, and other times at the home of her daughter, 2090 Cluster Springs Road, South Boston, VA.
