Walter Floyd Geisinger

Walter Floyd Geisinger, Lt. Col., USAF, Retired, late of Springfield, Virginia, passed away January 3, 2014 in Durham, North Carolina after a short illness. Born July 13, 1927 in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of Floyd Michael Geisinger and Thelma Irene Hall. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Natalie Ann Jorgensen in 2002. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Force as a Sgt. He joined the US Army Air Force Reserve upon his discharge. He was called to active duty in 1951 as a 2nd Lt. After completing college, earning degrees in Architecture and an MS in Civil Engineering, he served in the Civil Engineering Branch of the USAF, retiring in 1969. While serving on active duty he was assigned in many USAF Bases in the US, Greenland, England and Italy. He then worked with the Construction Specifications Institute in Washington D.C., retiring in 1992. He is survived by his children, Carol Lynn Richardson and husband Bruce, Torquay, Australia, Michael Frederick Geisinger and wife Betty , Vernon Hill, Virginia, Ellen Christine Taylor, Bloomington, Indiana, Sheryl Ann Kohn, Oxford, North Carolina and Karen Leslie Geisinger, Corning, New York, He is also survived by a sister, Mary Lela Tronson and husband Tim, Andover, Minnesota, a brother-in-law Ray Jorgensen and wife Frances, Orange Park, Florida, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fairfax, Virginia. A Memorial Service will be held at the church on Monday, February 3rd at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gerry Johnson conducting the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your local Hospice. He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a date yet to be determined. Condolences may be sent to Michael F.
