Walter Addison Marable

Mr. Walter Addison Marable of South Boston, Virginia died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Woodview Nursing Home. He was born in Halifax County, NC on August 24, 1930 and was 83 years old. He was the son of the late Walter Deshazor Marable and the late Ruby Locke Marable. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Addison committed over 65 of his life to coaching youth athletics in Halifax County. He was also member of the South Boston Lion's Club and the American Legion Post 8. Addison also served as a Lay minister to many area churches. Addison was also an inductee to the Halifax County/South Boston Sports Hall of Fame where he also served as secretary and treasurer. Mr. Walter Addison Marable is survived by: One Brother Bill Marable and wife Eloise of Brevard, NC Two Nephews William E. Marable, Jr. and Michael L. Marable One Niece Linda Schaefer Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. Dr. Russell Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home.
