Mr. Donald David Snyder of 102 Watlington Drive, South Boston, VA, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013 at his home. He was born in Kingwood, WVA, on January 30, 1956 and was 57 years old. He was the son of Donald Snyder and Mary Watkins Snyder who survive and was married to Joy Rowland Snyder. He was a Forestry Graduate from West Virginia University and was the Senior Area Forester for Halifax County with the Virginia Department of Forestry. He also was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher and was a Deacon. He was also Chairman of the Startup Team for Young Life and obtained the Rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America. Survivors include: His wife of 33 years Joy Rowland Snyder of South Boston One daughter Kelly Renee Snyder of Lynchburg One son Andrew David Snyder of Wilmington, OH His parents Donald and Mary Watkins Snyder of Greensburg, PA Two sisters Mary Cassandra Snyder of Parkersburg, WVA Carol Riley of Reedsville, WVA Two nieces Aubree Riley of Reedsville, WVA and Anna Edmunds of Arthurdale, WVA A sister-in-law Phyllis Hudspeth and husband Bob of Winston-Salem, NC He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clay and Ruth Snyder, and Leo and Willard Watkins, all of Kingwood, WVA A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Beth Car Baptist Church, Halifax, with Rev. Dr. Michael Parnell officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 7-8:30 PM at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home.
