John Winston Edwards

Mr. John Winston Edwards of 1006 Waddell Woods Lane, South Boston, VA passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at his home. He was born in Dothan, Alabama on November 30, 1948 and was 64 years old. He was the son of Grey Holt Edwards Sr. and Margaret Maddox Edwards who both survive and was married to Laura Cranford Edwards. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a member of the choir and also was the former choir director at Dan River Baptist Church for 30 years. He was a 38 year employee with the Halifax County School and retired as the Director of Technology. Survivors include: His wife Laura Cranford Edwards of South Boston Four daughters Melanie E. Eanes and husband Joe of Charlottesville Lauren E. Stalcup and husband David of Summerville, SC Kate E. Hendricks and husband Les of Greenville, SC Anne Cranford Edwards of South Boston One step-son John Cranford and wife Joanie of Virgilina Eight grandchildren His parents Grey Holt and Margaret Edwards of Holly Hill, Al Two brothers Grey Holt Edwards Jr. and Mike Edwards of Georgia A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PMwith Rev. Dr. Russell Lee officiating. Burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery will be at a later date. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:45 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the funeral.
