Margaret Adams Scheier

Our beloved mother and grandmother Margaret Adams Scheier passed away on Saturday, November 16th 2013. She had a tender loving heart. In her earlier years, she loved taking her children to the North Carolina Fair where everyone knew her by name, gardening her flowers, and taking care of her dogs. In her later years, she cherished visits from family and friends, enjoyed reading novels, watching her favorite shows Lawrence Welk and Jeopardy, and providing on demand motherly advice for everything including the recipe of her famous prize winning cookies. She will be sorely missed. Mrs. Scheier was born in Halifax County on August 3rd 1927 and was the daughter of the late J.W. Adams, Sr. and Kate Carter Adams. Mrs. Scheier was a member of Cedar Grove Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Catherine Younger, and husband Billy of Louisville, KY, Margaret Caglayan, and husband Alper of Concord, MA and Susan Powell, and husband Darrell of South Boston, VA and five sons George Scheier, and wife Lynn of Danville, VA, James Scheier, and wife June of Danville, VA, John Scheier of South Boston, VA, Robert Scheier of Halifax, VA and Billy Scheier, and wife Wendy of South Boston, VA, eleven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren, one sister-in-law Edith Adams and one nephew Arch Adams, and wife Cindy of Alton, VA, and her devoted friends Virginia Dunn, and Judy Sullivan. She was predeceased by her parents J. W. Adams, Sr. and Kate Carter Adams and one brother J. W. Adams, Jr. A graveside service for Mrs. Scheier will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. BobMiller officiating. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7-8:30 PM and other times at the home of Susan and Darrell Powell, 8010 Philpott Road, South Boston.
