Mr. Dennis K. Osborne, age 66, died November 11, 2013, at Duke Regional Hospital, Durham, NC, of complications from a spine injury. He spent his formative years in Lynchburg, VA, attending E. C. Glass High School and Lynchburg College. He enjoyed a career in banking. He started with Fidelity National Bank, then worked at First Federal Savings & Loan, which merged with BB&T. He retired as Vice President from BB&T with more than 25 years of service. He was elected twice as Mayor of Halifax, was a member of the Lions Club of Halifax, Sportsman's Club, and a former member of the Halifax Country Club. He , also, was a long time member of St. John's Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry. Dennis was an avid photographer, a NASCAR fan, followed ACC Basketball, and enjoyed attending antique car shows. Additionally, he liked feeding the birds and watching and identifying them from his kitchen window. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Ann Osborne, and a son Cabell Osborne. Dennis is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary Archer Booker Osborne of Halifax, a brother, Doug Osborne and his wife Sue of Pawley's Island, SC, and a son, Jamey Osborne of Fancy Gap, VA. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15 at 2 pm at St. John's Episcopal Church, 197 Mountain Road, Halifax, VA, with burial in the church cemetery.
