Mr. Jesse Rogers Spencer, Sr. of Halifax, Virginia died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at his home. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia July 10, 1935 and was 78 years of age. He was the son of the late George Letcher Spencer and Clara Crews Spencer and was also preceded in death by his wife Nellie Womack Spencer. Mr. Spencer was of the Methodist Faith and was retired as a contractor. Mr. Jesse Rogers Spencer, Sr. is survived by One Daughter Vickie Lynn Spencer of Henrico One Son Jesse R. Spencer, Jr. & fiance Cathy Allen of Halifax One Sister Doris S. Cole of Virgilina Three grandchildren Jesse R. Spencer, III & wife Lindsey of Vernon Hill George Tyler Spencer of Charlotte, NC Johanna M. Spencer of Elon, NC ***In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by One granddaughter, Jessica Paige Spencer One Daughter-in-law, Millie C. Spencer One Sister, Mary S. Canada One Brother, Lewis Spencer A Graveside Services for Mr. Jesse Rogers Spencer, Sr. will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11:00 A. M. at Halifax Memorial Garden, with the Rev. Randy Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from7-8:30 at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son Jesse Spencer Jr., 2151 Mountain Road, Halifax, VA.
