Mr. Arnold"Glenn" Sanders of Alton, Virginia died Monday, October 7, 2013 at his home. He was born December 18, 1932 and was 80 years of age. He was the son of the late Robert Mark Sanders and Velma McGhee Sanders and is survived by his wife Harriett Yancey Sanders. Mr. Sanders was a charter member of Dan River Ruritan Club and later transferred to the Turbeville Ruritan Club, having been a member of the Ruritans for 45 years. He was Dan River District Secretary for 32 years and was a Zone Governor for Zones 8 & 9, Halifax County. Mr. Sanders served in the U. S. Air Force for 4 years having served in the Korean Conflict. He also served in the local National Guard for 2 years. He was employed as a Supervisor with Burlington Industries at the Halifax plant for 34 years. Mr. Arnold "Glenn" Sanders is survived by: His Wife Harriett Yancey Sanders of Alton One Son Robert Todd Sanders & wife Sandy of Danville Grandchildren Benjamin, Jonathan, Lynley & Jamison Sanders of Danville One Brother Wayne Sanders and wife Debbie of Littleton, NC One Sister Vicky Homesley of North Carolina Father & Mother-In-Law Clyde & Elnora Puckett of Ringgold, VA Sister-In-Law Binnie Y. Davis & husband William of Ringgold, VA Special Friends Vicki Satterfield & Cody Wilson of Alton ,VA His beloved dog, My pretty girl "Dixie" ***He was preceded in death by His daughter, Susan Glynn Sanders Two brothers, Hoyle Sanders & Mike McGee Father-in-law, Robert Benjamin Yancey Step-Mother, Gertrude Meeler Sanders A Graveside Service for Mr. Arnold "Glenn" Sanders will be held at First Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:00 P. M. with the Rev. Dan Ward officiating. The family will receive friends at the home 2027 Mill Pond Road, Alton, Virginia In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Avenue, South Boston, VA 24592 or Halifax County Humane Society, P.O.
