Mr. Hugh Tyrus Edmondson of J. D. Hagood Highway, Clover, Virginia died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at his home. He was born May 6, 1919 in Halifax County, Virginia and was 94 years of age. He was the son of the late Frank Edward Edmondson and Mabel Ligon Edmondson and was also preceded in death by his wife Grace Nichols Edmondson. Mr. Edmondson was a member of Scottsburg United Methodist Church where he was a church Treasurer for 49 years, and was also a member of the church choir. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #270, and was an Army Veteran having served as a Sgt. in World War II. Mr. Hugh Tyrus Edmondson is survived by: His Daughter-in-law Faye Edmondson of Clover Two Step-Grandchildren Michelle Womack of Clover Jason Toombs of Clover Two Grandchildren Tiffany & Frankie Edmondson of Clover Two Great-Grandchildren One Brother McDonald Edmondson of Victoria ***In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by One Son Hugh Branford Edmondson One Sister Cornelia E. Midkiff One Brother Holt Edmondson Funeral Services for Mr. Hugh Tyrus Edmondson will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2013 with the Rev. Mary Tharpe and the Rev. Bonnie Pizzeck officiating. Burial will follow in the Clover Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service and other times at his home, 10028 J. D. Hagood Hwy., Clover, VA.
