Lovie Margaret Parker Jones

Mrs. Lovie Margaret Parker Jones of South Boston, Virginia died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born October 24, 1920 in Johnston County, North Carolina and was 92 years old. She was the daughter of the late Ezra Parker and the late Lovie Denning Parker and married to the late Eugene Orr Jones. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She was an avid sports fan who excelled in tennis and basketball. Her Grandsons ballgames brought her great joy and her knowledge of the game kept the umpires honest. Mrs. Lovie Margaret Parker Jones is survived by: One Daughter Peggy Crews and husband Jimmy of Halifax Two Grandsons Jamie Eugene Crews and wife Joy of Athens, AL Adam Parker Crews of South Boston One Great-Granddaughter Morgan Marie Crews of Athens, AL Special friend and caretaker, Marie Alderson of Vernon Hill Preceded in death by: Two brothers, Al Parker and David Henry Parker Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Rigg officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 1012 Evergreen Tr., Halifax, VA.
