Doris Smoot Thomas

Mrs. Doris Smoot Thomas of 324 Webster Street, South Boston, VA. died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on April 27, 1933 and was 80 years old. She was the daughter of the late Clarence William Smoot and Lucy Annie Oakes Smoot and was married to the late Sylvanious Nathaniel Thomas. She was a member of South Boston Seventh Day Adventist Church. Survivors Include: Five Daughters Bonnie T. Chandler and Husband Randy of Williamsburg Teresa T. Harris and husband Marshall of South Boston Margo T. Stembridge and husband Michael of Clarksville Kathy T. Carter of Chapel Hill, N.C Sondra T. Ridgeway and husband Mark of Dayton, Ohio One Son Barry D. Thomas and wife Linda of Halifax One sister Mary Saunders of South Boston Seventeen grandchildren Ten great-grandchildren One great-great grandchild Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Boston, VA with the Rev Barry Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 and at other times at her home.
