Mrs. Lutie Amanda Burgess Pugh of Altavista, Virginia, and formerly of South Boston, died Wednesday, June 5,. 2013 at Autumn Care in Altavista. She was born June 26, 1921 in Campbell County, VA. She was the daughter of the late Jesse King Burgess and Martha Ann Mason Burgess and was preceded in death by her husband Edward Gibson Pugh. Mrs. Pugh was a member of Ash Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Lutie Amanda Burgess Pugh is survived by: Three Daughters Nancy P. Childress of Gretna Marie P. Tucker & Malcolm of Gretna Susan Dale Clay of Holly Hills, FL Two Brothers Bill Burgess of Altavista Rudy Burgess of Altavista One Sister Nellie Arthur of Wintergarden, FL Ten Grandchildren Thirteen Great Grandchildren One Great-Great Grandchild **Preceded in death by One Sister Susie Burgess One Grandson James W. Stern Funeral Services for Mrs. Lutie Amanda Burgess Pugh will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Powell Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P. M. with the Rev. Michael Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home, Friday from 7-8:30 P. M. and other times at the home of Shelia Bliss, 1013 Berry Hill Road, South Boston, VA. For memorials, please consider a charity of your choice. The family would like to extend special thanks to the Autumn Care Staff and to two special CNA's Connie Rowland and Joyce Logan.
