William Robert Carr, Jr.

Mr. William Robert "Bill" Carr, Jr. of 5020 Clarkton Road, Nathalie, VA, died Monday, May 27, 2013 at his home. He was born in Danville, VA on March 11, 1934 and was 79 years old. He was the son of the late William Robert Carr Sr. and Ruth Esther Owen Carr and was married to Mary Katherine West Carr. He was a retired farmer, a member of Ellis Creek Baptist Church, a graduate of Virginia Tech, active member of the AARP, the South Boston - Halifax County YMCA, was a US Army Veteran, founding member of the Triangle Volunteer Fire Department, a founding member of the Mt. Laurel Pool Association, was a member of the Clarkton Hunt Club and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include: His wife Mary Katherine West Carr of Nathalie One daughter Mary K. Carr of Wilmington, DE Two sons William R. "Bert" Carr, III and fiance Stephanie Douglas Hall of Nathalie Hugh Edward Carr and wife Susan of Falls Church One sister Patsy Ruth Carr Reese of Scottsburg Two grandsons John Robert Carr and Peter Edward Carr One Sister in law, Julia Ann West Nichols of Halifax A funeral service will be held at Ellis Creek Baptist Church on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Dib Mills conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7-8:30 PM and other times at his home.
