Mr. Howard Leslie Dunkley, 89 of South Boston, Virginia died April 24, 2013 in Lake Wylie, South Carolina. Mr. Dunkley was born in Halifax County, Virginia on September 4, 1923, the son of the late Willie Avery Dunkley and Mamie Susan Palmer Dunkley and was Married to Nancy Marguerite Riddle Dunkley. He was an active member of First Baptist Church for serveral decades. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army Air Corps; "The Mighty Eighth". He was a member of the American Legion Post 8, as well as a lifetime member of the Faulkner Memorial Masonic Lodge in South Boston, Virginia where he was an active Mason for more than 50 years. Mr. Dunkley was a retired butcher with A & P. Mr. Dunkley was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Marguerite Riddle Dunkley; one daughter, Peggy Leigh Dunkley Seamster; brothers Tom Dunkley, Edward Dunkley and Raleigh Dunkley. Survivors include: One grandson, Robert Sterling Seamster and wife Michelle McIntyer Seamster of Lake Wylie,S. C.; granddaughter, Tamara Seamster Smith and son-in-law, Michael Shane Smith of Florence, S. C.; sister, Ellie Rickman and husband William; one brother, Buster Dunkley and wife, Dot; four great-grandchildren, Tanner Sterling Seamster and Lakyn Kennedy Seamster, both of Lake Wylie, Madison Taylor Smith and Morgan Brooke Smith, both of Florence, S.C. The family will receive friend on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 6-8 P. M. at Powell Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 28,2013 at 2:00 P. M. at First Baptist Church in South Boston, Virginia with the Rev. Susan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
