John William Hardie

Mr. John William Hardie of Halifax, Virginia died Friday, March 29, 2013 at his home. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia, January 7, 1936 and was 77 years of age. He was the son of the late William Bryan Hardie and Marie Harris Hardie. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Merlene Wade Hardie . Mr. Hardie was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and was a retired tobacco buyer with Universal Leaf Tobacco Company. Mr. John William Hardie is survived by: Daughters Dale H. Sparks of Halifax Donna H. Henderson & husband L. W. of Oak Level, VA Son-in-law Dan C. Monette of Chesterfield, VA Grandchildren and Great grandchildren Scott Adams, Joey, Stephanie, & Jace Adams , Kevin, Crystal, Maci, Bailee, and Addilynn Henderson, Brian Lee & Cathy Henderson, all of Halifax, VA Sara Beth & Alex Glass of Halifax, VA John Collins & Leigh Monette of Chesterfield, VA Sisters Florine Hall of Danville, VA Ella Frances Ryan of Danville, VA Good Friend Abigail *Preceded in death by a daughter Denise Monette Funeral Services for Mr. John William Hardie will be held Monday, April 1, 2013 at 2:00 P. M. at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Neilsen and The Rev. Bryant Wilbourne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
