Dorothy Mae Gwyer Moorefield

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Gwyer Moorefield of Halifax, Virginia died Monday, March 18, 2013 at her home. She was born April 10, 1934 in Allegheny County, PA. She was the daughter of the late William O. Gwyer and Carrie Elizabeth Thomas Gwyer and was married to Elijah Daniel (Danny) Moorefield, Jr. Mrs. Moorefield was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, member of the Tuesday Women's Club and was a caretaker for children for 45 years. Mrs. Dorothy Mae Gwyer Moorefield is survived by: Her Husband Elijah Daniel (Danny) Moorefield, Jr. of Halifax, VA Two Daughters Amy Carol Lowery Barden & Tommy of Charles City, VA Patricia Ann Fallen Puryear & Kelly of Halifax, VA Four Sons Monty Lane Lowery & Vanessa of Alton, VA Timothy Clay Lowery of Alton, VA Michael Scott Moorefield of Virgilina, VA Thomas Allen Moorefield of Virginia Beach, VA Two Brothers James Gwyer & Anita of Augusta, GA David Gwyer & Kathy of Murrells Inlet, SC One Daughter-in-law Luci Mae Oco Lowery of Catawba, NC Eight Grandchildren & Three Great-Grandchildren ***In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by One Son, Vance Eric Lowery Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Gwyer Moorefield will be held Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 11:00 A. M. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home, Wednesday from 7-8:30 P.
