Mrs. Carolyn Alice Warsen VanBenschoten of 1058 Wolf Trap Road, South Boston, VA passed away January 28, 2013 at her home. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on Novemberr 2, 1936 to the late Joseph S. Warsen and Alice Gregory Warsen. She was a graduate of Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont and is survived by her husband of 53 years, Theodore "Ted" Ronald VanBenschoten, Sr. Ted and Carolyn moved to South Boston in 1962. Previously, she attended Faith Mennonite Church in Cluster Springs. She then became a member of First Presbyterian Church in South Boston. She was an avid tennis player and a prominent antique dealer. Carolyn was a loving mother of three sons. Survivors include: Her husband Theodore Ronald VAnBenschoten, Sr. of South Boston Three sons Captain Theodore Roanld VanBenschoten Jr. and wife Ann of Queenstown, MD Keith Joseph VanBenschoten and friend Kim Wright of Bridgewater, VA Gregory Alan VanBenschoten and wife Linda King of Hickory, NC One brother John Warsen and wife Cathie Mehler of Lopez Island, WA Fourteen grandchildren Three great grandchildren Former daughter-in-laws Rhoda Slabach VanBenSchoten of Harrisonburg, VA Mary Everhafrt VAnBenschoten of Inverness, FL She was precded in death by two brothers, David Warsen and Joseph Warsen. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 2 at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Dr. Russell Lee will conduct the service. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Friday, February 1, from 7-8:30 PM.
