Victor Henry Powell

Mr. Victor Henry Powell of 2030 Mountain Road, Halifax, VA died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on February 26, 1927 and was 85years old. He was the son of the late Herbert Augustus Powell and Annie Alderson Powell and was married to Mary Blanks Powell who survives. He was a retired employee of the Halifax County School System, was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church, was a US Navy Veteran, was a member of American Legion Post 8, and VFW Post 8243. Survivors include: His wife Mary Blanks Powell of South Boston One daughter Vickie P. Shelton and husband Winfred of Scottsburg One son Thomas Gardner Powell and wife Vicki of Midlothian One sister Janet M. Domke and husband Eugene of Corbett, OR Two brothers Lacy W. Powell and wife Audrey of Altavista Earl Gunn Powell and wife Shirley of South Boston Three grandchildren Stefanie Powell, Jamie Shelton and wife Donna, Jenifer Jones and husband Simon Jones, Jr. One great grandchild Paige Shelton Two step grandchildren Jamie and Chad Beran Two step great grandchildren Jamie Beran Jr. and Kayle Beran He was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Lester Powell Sr., two sisters, Mae Conway and Betty Vernon. A funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Rathel officiating. Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Monday evening from 7-8:30 PM and other times at the home of Vickie Shelton, 3120 McDonald Road, Scottsburg.
