Beulah Carter Compton

Mrs. Beulah Carter Compton of Hurt, VA and formerly of Chester, VA passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at her home in Hurt. She was born in Georgetown, SC on October 28, 1935 and was 77 years old. She was the daughter of the late John Carter and Isabel Goins Carter and was married to the late Chester Sampson Compton. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Chester and was attending Grace Community Church in Altavista. Survivors include: Four daughters Roxie Ann Evans of Florence, SC Vickie C. Winfield and husband David of Hurt, VA Nancy Creel and husband Roosevelt of Charleston, SC Cathy C. Parker and husband Robert of Latta, SC One son Danny Ray Griffin of Asheville, NC One step-son Dewey Compton and wife Valerie of South Boston 5 grandchildren A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 16 at 2:00 PM at the Ligon Family Cemetery at Scottsburg with Rev. Rodney Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
