Geraldine Lovelace Schmidt Dix

Mrs. Geraldine Lovelace Schmidt Dix, 93, of Halifax, Virginia passed away on January 12, 2013. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Aubrey Schmidt and her step-son, William Dix. She is survived by her husband, Howard Dix of Halifax, Virginia. Her surviving children are Ann Lewis and husband Johnny of Mt. Laurel and Don Schmidt and wife Will of Chester. Grandchildren are Steve Lewis and wife Leslie, Tyler Schmidt and wife Elizabeth, and LeeAnn Schmidt Robbins and husband Brandon. Her four surviving great grandchildren are Blair and Tori Lewis and Ethan and Grayson Schmidt. Step-children are Brenda Fox and husband Brian of Mt. Jackson and Shirley Crews and husband Henry of Lynchburg. Her step-grandchildren are DeeAnn Diaczynsky and husband Jerry, Jeanette Martoncik, and Jon Crews and wife Ann. Surviving step-great grandchildren are Justin Diaczynsky, Cozette and Colton Fox, and Emma Crews. Jerri was a longtime, faithful member and elder at Halifax Presbyterian Church until its closure several years ago. She was a current member of Berry Hill Presbyterian. She was a loyal employee of Craddock and Terry Shoe Corporation for many years, and worked part time at Aker's Jewelry Store during retirement. She enjoyed volunteering for the Halifax Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, the Red Cross Bloodmobile, Halifax County Mental Health and Twin Oaks Nursing Home. She was a cancer survivor and member of "Bosom Buddies." A funeral service will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Brandon Robbins and Rev. Dr. Ed Melvin conducting the service. Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12:30 PM until service time at 2:00 PM and other times at the home of Howard Dix, 651 Pine Road, Halifax, VA or the home of Ann and Johnny Lewis, 5041 Mt.
