Melcoie Hite Callahan

Mrs. Melcoie Hite Callahan of 3022 East Hyco Road, South Boston, VA left our presence to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at her home. She was born in Halifax County on April 11, 1931 and was 81 years old. She was the daughter of the late Bernard Hite and Rosa O'Geary Hite and was married to James Meredith Callahan. She was a retired Medical Secretary from the South Boston Medical- Surgical Clinic after a career of 49 years and was a member of The First Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory Her husband of 59 years James Meredith Callahan One daughter Carol Callahan Puryear One grandson Dexter Seamon and fiancé Megan Dorsett One Brother Connie Hite, Stovall, NC, (Nellie) One niece, Kim Doucett (James) and two nephews, Steve Hite (Stacy) and Danny Clary (Tamara) Mrs. Callahan was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Rosa Hite and a sister: Polly Hite Puryear. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dave Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
