Walter Claude "Cecil" Anderson, Jr.

Mr. Walter Claude "Cecil" Anderson, Jr. of Halifax, Virginia died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at the Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County, Virginia on May 13, 1922 and was 90 years old. He was the son of the late Walter Claude Anderson, Sr. and the late Virginia Hudson Anderson and was married to Kathryn Midkiff Anderson, who survives. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and retired Treasurer of Halifax County. He was WWII Army Veteran with Company F, 82nd Airborne. He is survived by: One Son Walter Claude Anderson III, M.D. and wife Carol of Sequin, TX Two Daughters Kim A. Wilson and husband Pete of Big Island, VA Susan Elliott of Halifax Four Grandchildren Thomas Nathan Anderson John Henry Anderson Erin Anderson Wilson Daniel A. Wilson Two Great Grandchildren A number of nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hudson Anderson and Howard T. Anderson, and by six sisters, Eunice Temple, Maggie Osborne, Ella Headspeth, Evie Harris, Janey Davis, and Helen Burnett. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December29, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery with military rites.
