Betty Stephens Saunders

Mrs. Betty Stephens Saunders of Alton, Virginia died Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Woodview Nursing Home. She was born March 1, 1932 in Halifax County, Virginia and was 80 years old. She was the daughter of the late Alvis Belt Stephens, Sr. and the late Sally Hall Stephens Conner and married to the late James Gratan Saunders. She was a member of the Seven Oaks Baptist Church and retired from J.P. Stevens. Mrs. Betty Stephens Saunders is survived by: One Daughter Vicky S. Pyatt and husband Roger of Greensboro, NC Three Grandchildren Eron Pyatt of Greensboro, NC Zachary Saunders of Alton, VA James Saunders of Alton, VA One Daughter-in-law Linda Saunders of Alton, VA A number of nieces and nephews Preceded in death by: One Son, Michael Saunders Two Brothers, Jesse Stephens and A.B. "Junior" Stephens One sister, Mary Watson Memorial services will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy McMillian officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
