William Otis Tune, Sr.

Mr. William Otis Tune, Sr. of 9159 Chatham Road, Vernon Hill, VA died Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home in Danville. He was born at Vernon Hill on April 24, 1922 and was 90 years old. He was the son of the late William Kester Tune and Lou Jenny Blanks Tune was married to Muriel Palmer Tune. Mr. Tune was a member of Halifax Baptist Church where he served as clerk, treasurer, and deacon. He was a World War II Army Veteran from 1942-45 having served in the European Theater. He was a retired tobacconist from the American Tobacco Company for 43 years. He also was a member of the Halifax Masonic Lodge AF&AM. Survivors include: His wife Muriel Palmer Tune of Vernon Hill One daughter Linda Tune of Greensboro, NC Three sons William Otis (Bill)Tune Jr. and wife Terry of Sutherlin Thomas (Tom) Tune and wife Leigh of Hillsborough, NC Michael Tune of Vernon Hill and fiancé Sandra Hodges of Martinsville, VA Four grandchildren One step granddaughter Three great grandchildren A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Halifax Baptist Church with Rev. Mike McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Monday night from 7-8:30 PM and other times at his home.
